Tasting commentary by Andréas LARSON, designated the World’s Best Sommelier in 2007:
« Intense dark ruby with a purple tinge, the nose offers, sweet and ripe dark berries, some new oak and spicy notes, the palate has a good structure and length with nice dark fruit, althouth it is still young and firm, somme ageing will do good..

The nose is opening up and shows a great complexity, dark fruit, spices and cigar box, very nice structure, spicy and rich, fully drinkable with some aeration before serving, still has the potential to go on and develop more complex notes and roundness on the palate.

Fine spicy and complex nose, reminiscent of last tasting with a nice development, the palate is structured and well balanced, more roundness to it this time, good length, balanced and nicely drinkable, still with a good potential for further ageing.

Nice nose with a good deal of complexity, dark berries and tobacco, excellent balance on the palate, still youthful and vivid but without hard edges, nicely made, delicious, decant an hour in advance if you intend to drink this today. »

HACHETTE Guide 2009’s Coup de Cœur:
“In naming this vintage, the winemaker intended to allow consumers the privilege of making up their own minds. The tasters in this guide, who were given the wine blind with no preconceptions, did not hesitate to do so. This intense 2005 with a deep, almost black colour reveals a nose marked by ripe fruits and a certain freshness. After an initially warm palate, it reveals ripe fruits and blackcurrant tastes that the strong tannins do not mask. It has a good length and a pleasant hint of menthol. It is a very enjoyable Côtes de Bergerac with lots of fruit that has been matured carefully. Quite simply remarkable.”

0ther magazine ‘La Revue des Vins de France’
: “Splendid colour with great depth. The nose and palate are superb, expressing the ripeness of the fruit perfectly and giving it a certain bite. Very nicely matured, with considerable length. Excellent.”
