Variety: 70% Sémillon, 20% Sauvignon, 10% Muscadelle.

Fermentation and maturation: Fermentation and maturation in casks for 19 months.

Serving temperature: between 10° and 12°C.

Tasting:  “Edged with the colour of old gold that gradually shades into amber, this remarkable great wine is a distinguished player! The nose expresses scents of beeswax, quince and dried apricots: a great classic of the old school … as to the palate, it plays in the same register, lavishing a generous portion of smoothness onto the tongue.”

  • Awards / press reviews:
Gold medal in the Concours Général Agricole de Paris in 2001
Hachette Guide 2002: “This Monbazillac bears the mark of botrytis in its bouquet of candied, baked and ripe fruits. The round and distinguished palate leaves a long memory of caramel and apricot flavours. A rich and harmonious wine.”

    Serving suggestions:
Passionate admirers of sweet wines will enjoy them from the aperitif right through to dessert.
Do them justice with a terrine of fresh foie gras or fried foie gras, bass cooked in its skin with a salad of tomatoes and balsamic vinegar, a medallion of veal with mushrooms, duck à l’orange, grilled chicken or guinea fowl glazed with acacia honey and a hint of ginger accompanied by peppers and delicately spiced vegetables, calf sweetbreads in sauce, veined cheeses or even apple pie…
